While being detained, Raymond Durham allegedly fought with officers then pulled a gun from his waist band and fired multiple times.

Raymond Durham, 60, of Detroit, is charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of resisting and obstructing the police causing serious impairment, one count of felon in possession of a firearm and five counts of felony firearms violations.

Durham was stopped by police officers in a marked car on Ash Street near Tillman. While being detained, Durham allegedly fought with officers then pulled a gun from his waist band and fired multiple times.

One officer, a 20 year veteran suffered multiple gunshot wounds including a neck injury. The other officer, a 4 year veteran, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

Detroit’s Police Chief says that officers protective vest blocked the bullets fired at his chest.

Police sources say, DNA connects Durham to the murder scene of Wayne State Police Sergeant Colin Rose. Sources say Durham’s DNA matched three points of contact: gloves, a flashlight and the sergeant himself.
