Deliberations will continue on Friday in the Charleston SC trial of Michael Slager who is charged in the shooting death of Walter Scott.
Before the jury left just after 6 PM last evening, they asked for the difference between fear and passion. Lawyers for both sides said they will tell the judge their interpretation of the difference.
The jury also wanted transcripts of testimony from Michael Slager and State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agent Angela Peterson.
Slager’s defense team has also filed a motion requesting a probation report and to delay sentencing if their client is found guilty.
A probation report – which may include factors Slager’s criminal record, social history, and present condition, could also include details of the defendant’s life, background, upbringing and mental state.
It is not clear from the motion how long it would take for the probation office to prepare such a report.
The judge told the jury was granting their request for transcripts of the testimony from Slager and Angela Peterson, the lead SLED agent in the case. He instructed the court reporter to prepare transcripts for the jury.
Jurors will report back to the courthouse on Friday at 9 AM.
