Matthew Terry is charged with first-degree murder in the death of elementary school math teacher Kay Baker. Baker was Terry's girlfriend and they shared a home together. On May 28, 2022 a neighbor called police after hearing screams coming from the home. When police arrived, they found Baker, 43, dead in the yard with a large stab wound to her neck nearly decapitating her. Terry was found lying flat on the ground, concealed among a line of trees. He was wearing a tee shirt and underwear that were soaked in blood. Terry has a previous stabbing conviction. He spent three years in a Michigan prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Michelle Rogers. If convicted Terry could face the death penalty.
