Melody Walker Farris is charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another and making a false statement in the death of her husband, Gary Farris, who was a prominent Atlanta-area attorney. Detectives recovered evidence indicating that Melody Farris shot and killed her husband inside their home and then tried to dispose of his body and evidence by burning it on their property. On July 5, 2018, deputies were called to their 10 acre farm following a report of human remains in a fire. Detectives had initially believed Gary could have suffered a medical issue and fallen into the fire, but then began investigating the case as a homicide after a .38 bullet was found lodged in one of Gary's rib bones. Investigators reportedly uncovered evidence inside the family home that pointed to Melody as the alleged killer.
