Leilani Maree Simon was guilty of killing her 20-month-old son, Quinton Simon, in 2022 then disposing his body in the trash. Simon faced 19 felony charges, including one count of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, one count of concealing the death of another, one count of falsely reporting a crime, and 14 counts of making false statements during the course of a police investigation. Leilani Simon called police on October 5, 2022, and reported that Quinton Simon was missing. She told a 911 dispatcher that their front door was open and Quinton must have been abducted. After a six-week long search of the Waste Management landfill in Chatham County Quinton's remains were discovered on November 18.
