Robert Kessler

Robert Kessler is blind and uses a wheelchair and is facing charges of first-degree murder and abuse of a dead human body in connection with the 2021 death and dismemberment of 47-year-old Stephanie Crone-Overholts. Her remains were discovered by fishermen in plastic bags floating in Tampa's McKay Bay. Stephanie Crone-Overholts, a resident of Pennsylvania, had been staying at Kessler's home in Lutz, Florida, when she vanished in late 2021. Prosecutors allege that cell phone records placed Kessler near the 22nd Street Causeway Bridge where witnesses reported seeing someone throwing bags into the water. Investigators later uncovered blood matching the victim's DNA inside Kessler's home. Kessler elected to fire his public defenders and represent himself.
