UK Supreme Court 1 Hearings

Today in the UK Supreme Court 1, Lady Hale, Lord Reed, Lord Kerr, Lord Wilson, Lord Carnwath, Lord Hodge, Lady Black, Lord Lloyd-Jones, Lady Arden, Lord Kitchin and Lord Sales will hand down their decisions in the cases of R (on the application of Miller) (Appellant) v The Prime Minister (Respondent) and Cherry and others (Respondents) v Advocate General for Scotland (Appellant) (Scotland).

At issue is 1) Whether the decision of the Prime Minister to advise Her Majesty the Queen to prorogue Parliament is justiciable in the courts; and 2) If the decision is justiciable and the appeal is not academic, whether that advice was lawful.
