A prominent St. Augustine roofing company is embroiled in a contentious legal battle with two of its ex-employees who claim they’re owed thousands of dollars in unpaid wages.

But in a civil lawsuit owners at Fidus Roofing, Construction and Pavers argue that two of the company’s former salespeople swiped trade secrets by sending hundreds of proprietary documents to their personal emails.

The allegations sparked a six-month criminal investigation that culminated with the Sheriff’s Office filing charges against Shane Marshall Kowalchik, 46, and Britne June White, 34.
