The International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands is holding a trial hearing in the case of The Prosecutor v. Paul Gicheru.
The case also initially involved charges against Philip Kipkoech Bett but the case against him was severed from the case against Mr Gicheru on 11 December 2020.
Paul Gicheru, a lawyer formerly based in Kenya, is suspected of offences against the administration of justice committed in or around 2013 in Kenya consisting in corruptly influencing witnesses of the ICC Prosecution.
The evidence indicates that said scheme has been run in an organized manner and with a clear distribution of tasks.
There is also information that those witnesses who were successfully corrupted were enticed to make contact with other witnesses, for the purpose of their corruption.
