Trial

Erica Stefanko 37, was arrested last fall in the June 2012 slaying of Ashley Biggs, the ex-girlfriend of Cobb, Stefanko’s husband at the time.

Stefanko is accused of making a bogus pizza delivery call that lured Biggs to the New Franklin business where she was killed.

Police said Cobb ambushed the woman, striking her in the head before strangling her with a 4-foot-long plastic zip tie. He placed Biggs’ body inside her car and drove to Chippewa Township, where he abandoned the vehicle.

Stefanko is charged with aggravated murder and several other offenses.

Cobb, Stefanko’s now-ex-husband, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and several other crimes in the death of Biggs. Biggs, 25, was the mother of his then-6-year-old daughter and the two were in a custody dispute. Cobb, 38, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 2013. He originally faced the death penalty.
