Sentencing

August 18, 2017

Brandon Banks was charged with five counts of aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery in the 2013 rape of an unconscious female student.

Banks is one of four former students at Vanderbilt University accused in the rape.

Two of them – Brandon Vandenburg and Corey Batey – have already gone to trial, been found guilty, and sentence to prison.

Banks faced the same charges and the same damaging evidence.

The fourth former student, Jaborian ‘Tip’ McKenzie, has not yet gone to trial and it’s not yet known if he will.

Banks’ attorney moved to have the devastating photos of the rape excluded from trial, claiming they were confiscated illegally. However, the motion failed. The photo evidence will be allowed and Banks was found guilty.

Banks faces a minimum of 15 years in prison.
