Ashley Kroese Trial

On the morning of June 18, 2020, Officer Destin Legieza was returning his police vehicle at the end of his shift when Ashley Kroese’s vehicle hit his head-on.

It was found she was driving the wrong way with her headlights off.

Legieza died at the scene. He wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, according to the investigation.

Kroese was indicted in November 2020 on charges including two counts of vehicular homicide driver intoxication, one count of vehicular homicide, one count of aggravated assault, one felony count of reckless endangerment with a vehicle and one count for failure to drive on the correct side of the road.
