22-year-old Ashton Sachs, who admitted to killing his parents and trying to kill two younger siblings during a late night attack at the family’s San Juan Capistrano home was ordered Friday to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Gregg L. Prickett sentenced Ashton Sachs to four life sentences – two without the possibility of parole – as well as nearly 100 additional years in prison for the use of a firearm and other sentencing enhancements.
During the early-morning hours of Feb. 9, 2014, he shot his parents, Bradford and Andra Sachs, to death as they slept in their bed. He then shot and paralyzed his 7-year-old brother, Landon, and tried to shoot his 17-year-old sister, Alexis.
During a court hearing last month Sachs abruptly pleaded guilty to the murders. He gave no indication at the hearing last month why he chose to change his previous not guilty plea.
Sachs had been representing himself after letting go of his court appointed attorney.
When asked by the judge if he wanted to make a statement to the court he shook his head to indicate no.
