Garrett Rolfe

Officer Garrett Rolfe is charged for an incident that took place on June 29, 2025, at the X Midtown club in Atlanta. Rolfe and a friend reportedly became involved in a verbal dispute with staff regarding drink prices and an alleged overcharging incident. According to witnesses and the club's staff, the argument turned physical, resulting in a scuffle with a bar worker, Raefeael Penrice. Following an internal APD investigation, Rolfe was placed on administrative leave and subsequently charged with battery and simple assault in connection with the fight. Rolfe gained national attention for a fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks in June 2020. Rolfe was terminated from the APD and faced 11 criminal counts, including felony murder but in August 2022, a special prosecutor reviewed the evidence and dropped all criminal charges, concluding that Rolfe's use of force was legally justified. The city later reached a $1 million settlement with Brooks's family.
