Miguel Salguero-Olivares

Miguel Enrique Salguero-Olivares is charged with first-degree murder in the case of the 2012 murder of 19-year-old UNC-Chapel Hill student Faith Hedgepeth. He was linked to the case after investigators recovered DNA from semen collected through a sexual assault kit and from elsewhere at the crime scene, police said. On Sept. 7, 2012, Hedgepeth’s body was found in an off-campus apartment bedroom. An autopsy revealed she died from a severe beating to her head. She was a sophomore at UNC-CH with aspirations to be a pediatrician. Salguero-Olivares was arrested on August 16, 2021 in Raleigh for driving while impaired.
