Thabo Bester escaped from the Mangaung Correctional Centre, in which he faked his death by making believe that he had 'burnt to death' in his prison cell. It is alleged that Dr Magugumana, her father Zolile Sekeleni, and G4S employees allegedly assisted in Thabo Bester's escape.
