Anti-Gang Unit police officers Thapelo Tlomatsana, 29, and Constable Sphiwe Sibeko, 28. were shot dead while responding to gunfire in Reiger Park, Ekurhulenion on August 7, 2026. Two local women, Jaydin Margeman and Rolleen Lessingwere also shot dead. Two rifles belonging to the South African Police Service (SAPS) were also recovered at KwaDukathole Informal Settlement in Germiston in connection with the killings.
