On Sept. 2, 2011, Alyssa Otremba,15, missing her geometry book, walked through a tunnel to a friend’s house hoping to borrow his book.
On her return trip, prosecutors say Javier Righetti spotted Alyssa and tracked her with a knife in hand.
Prosecutors say he murdered, raped and burned the Arbor View High School student.
Righetti had already plead guilty to nine other counts including first-degree kidnapping and sexual assault. The guilty plea was tossed out in 2016. On Thursday, 16th March Javier Righetti was found guilty of capital murder. The trial has now entered the penalty phase.
