UPDATE: Man ‘who kicked woman down subway stairs’ is arrested

THE thug who kicked a woman down the stairs at a Berlin metro station has been arrested after he was caught complaining about a bus passenger using phone loudly.  CCTV footage of the disturbing attack in October, showed a man kicking an unsuspecting woman down the stairs at an underground station while he casually smoked a cigarette while holding a bottle of beer.

Bulgarian national Svetoslav Stoykov, 27, from Varna, was identified following shocking CCTV footage of the attack hit headlines across the world.  Stoykov reportedly fled to France where he hid with relatives in Nice.  But the dad of three apparently decided it was safe to head back to Berlin and boarded a Eurolines coach with his wife.  The coach driver, also a Bulgarian national, heard him complaining about another passenger talking loudly on their mobile phone.  He said he then realised who the complaining traveller was and together with another passenger, they called the police who were waiting to arrest Stoykov when he arrived in Berlin.

Dozens of police officers raided the bus when the bus arrived in Berlin. The suspect had booked a £47 ticket from southern France for the 21-hour journey.  According to the Berlin prosecutor’s office, Stoykov did not put up any resistance during his arrest.
