A federal judge has ruled Dylan Roof, the man accused of shooting and killing nine people at a South Carolina church, will stand trial.
After a two day hearing, a judge found Dylan Roof is competent, but will not say why because it could lead to unfair trial.
The 22-year-old, who is white, is accused of opening fire during a bible study at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina in June 2015. All of Roof’s victims were black. Police say his motive was to provoke a race war. He’s now facing 33 federal charges and could be sentenced to death if convicted.
