- Max Spiers, 39, originally from Canterbury, was found dead in PolandÂ
- He had gone to the country to talk about conspiracy theories and UFOsÂ
- Medics ruled he died from natural causes despite no post-mortem
- His mother thinks he may have made enemies who wanted him dead
- Friends claimed he died in an apartment after he âvomited a black liquidâ
- A colleague says she was told his death was âcaused by peptic ulcerâ
A British UFO expert warned his mother just days before his suspicious death in Warsaw: âYour boyâs in trouble. If anything happens to me, investigateâ.
Vanessa Bates, 63, is now desperate to discover the truth about how her 39-year-old son died â and even believes he could have been sacrificed by a shadowy ring of Polish Satanists.
Max Spiers â a childhood friend of Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom â was ruled to have died from natural causes during a trip in June to lecture followers of his eccentric conspiracy theories.
But Mrs Bates, an English teacher from Canterbury, now believes her son may have been âslowly poisonedâ by Polish occultists who he came into contact with during his paranormal research.
Videos posted online of Mr Spiers in the days before his death show him slurring his words and struggling to string sentences together â evidence of him being drugged, his mother believes.
And Mrs Bates has described in shocking detail to the Mail overhearing âsatanic ritualsâ being conducted over her sonâs body, as she spoke on the telephone with his housemate.
She said: âHe was making a name for himself in the world of conspiracy theorists and had been invited to speak at a conference in Poland in July.
âHe was staying with a woman who he had not known for long and she told me how she found him dead on the sofa.
âBut I think Max had been digging in some dark places and I fear that somebody wanted him dead.â
It has already emerged that Mr Spiers sent a chilling text message to his mother just days before his death, which read: âYour boyâs in trouble. If anything happens to me, investigate.â
And Mrs Bates has now revealed she was sent a âthreateningâ book on devil worship and black magic by the mysterious Polish woman with whom her son was staying.
The black tome, entitled âSacrifice: Magic Behind the Micâ, includes chapters on âIlluminati Blood Sacrificesâ and âMoloch, Owls and the Horns of Satanâ.
She was also mailed a shocking photograph of her son with a head wound, as well as two images of him in a coffin wearing a âstrange silk suitâ, by the same woman.
âI could hear all this kerfuffle in the background â ritualistic stuff.
âThere were strange suggestions of things that should be done like put milk by this side and get garlic and put flowers and put vinegar and very weird goings on.
âI could hear it being said. It sounded like rituals going on. Some sort of satanic rituals.â
She added: âThe more you dig, the more questions you have got and the more difficult it is for a mother, because I donât like the idea of people messing around with his body.â
âIts absolutely ghastly. I feeling appallingly let down by the Polish police, I feel appallingly let down by the doctor and by the people who did the last interview when he sounds like heâs dying.â
âHe was staying with a woman who he had not known for long and she told me how she found him dead on the sofa.Â
âBut I think Max had been digging in some dark places and I fear that somebody wanted him dead.â
Max made a career out of investigating UFO sightings and alleged cover-ups.
More recently, he was said to be probing into the lives of well-known figures in politics, business and entertainment.
Vanessa, speaking to KMTV about his time in Poland, added: ââŠthese people seemed to be involved in some very, very dark and dangerous areas of the world and I was afraid that as he was gaining popularity and fame that perhaps somebody would want him out of the way i.e. not alive any longer.â
Mrs Bates has said that Max â who attended private school St Edmunds School, Canterbury alongside Orlando Bloom â âwas a very fit man who was in good healthâ.
Her son was buried in Canterbury cemetery after his body flown home a week after his death.
Mr Spiers had made a career out of investigating UFO sightings and alleged cover-ups in the government.
More recently, he was said to be probing into the lives of well-known figures in politics, business and entertainment.
But his unexplained death, and its subsequent treatment by the authorities, has left many online followers convinced he was killed by government agents.
On one website, Project Camelot, a blogger wrote: âThe entire circumstances are suspicious and I urge everyone to encourage the release of details about what really happened and call for an autopsy.â
Kent Council said in a statement âThe Coroner has opened an investigation into the death of Max Spiers, which may or may not result in the need for an inquest.
âA post mortem was ordered and has been undertaken. However, the results were inconclusive and further tests are being carried out.
When these results have been received, the Coroner will decide whether to continue the investigation and, as part of that investigation, to hold an inquest.â
