Leigha Mumby is accused of intentionally accelerating her car to speeds between 80 and 90 mph and crashing into a tree on Interstate 95 12 October 2026 in Flagler County, Florida during an argument with her boyfriend, Daniel Waterman, on Super Bowl Sunday on February 9, 2025. Waterman suffered catastrophic injuries and died eight months later, on October 8, 2025. At the time of the crash, Mumby was pregnant with their daughter, whom she gave birth to days after Waterman’s death. Mumby is facing charges of vehicular homicide, and reckless driving causing serious bodily injury. She faces a maximum of up to 35 years in prison.
