Dayton Knapton faces felony charges after shooting and killing a 17-year-old Sivan Wilson during a burglary of his detached garage in early July 2025. Knapton was charged with manslaughter, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and two counts of felony firearm. Knapton was alerted to a break-in in his detached garage around 1am on July 8, 2025. He fired two shots from a 9 mm handgun through a windowless, locked door, and an additional five shots as suspects fled the scene. The shooting killed 17-year-old Sivan Wilson and wounded another person. Several other individuals, including four juveniles and an adult, were also charged with breaking and entering in connection with the incident. It is believed the suspect burglars were trying to steal dirt bikes that were kept inside the garage.
