David Tronnes

David Tronnes is accused of beating and strangling his wife, Shanti Cooper-Tronnes, at their Delaney Park home in April 2018. The couple was renovating their home and Tronnes called 911, claiming he found his wife's body floating in the bathtub. However, the medical examiner determined that Shanti Cooper-Tronnes died from strangulation and blunt force trauma. Tronnes was then arrested in August 2018 on a charge of first-degree murder. In 2021, defense lawyers claimed Tronnes was not competent to stand trial following his diagnosis of schizophrenia but in January 2023 he was finally found competent to face the charges. In March 2023, there was a last-minute attempt by Tronnes' attorneys to change his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity but the judge ruled that they had missed the filing deadline.
