UK Court Of Appeal

Tommy Robinson is set to challenge his sentence for contempt of court at the Court of Appeal. Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was jailed for 18 months in October 2024. This followed his admission of 10 breaches to a High Court order which was made in 2021. The 42-year-old was barred by the order from repeating false allegations against a Syrian refugee, who successfully sued him for libel. Sentencing him at Woolwich Crown Court last year, Mr Justice Johnson said Robinson’s breaches were not 'accidental, negligent or merely reckless' and that the 'custodial threshold is amply crossed'. Robinson's appeal will be heard by the Lady Chief Justice Baroness Carr, Lord Justice Edis and Lord Justice Warby at the Royal Courts of Justice.
