Spencer Ross Pearson was charged with multiple counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery in a June 3, 2023 attack in the parking lot of the Ponte Vedra Mr. Chubby's Wings restaurant. Surveillance video shows then 18-year-old Pearson run out of the Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida restaurant and attack his then-17-year-old former girlfriend Madison Schemitz 15 times. Schemitz's mother, Jaclyn Roge tried to restrain Pearson and was slashed as well as was Kennedy Armstrong, who had just arrived at the restaurant and who jumped in and tackled Pearson to save them. The attack paralyzed Madison Schemitz from the chest down. Pearson slit his own throat several times after the assault attempting to kill himself but survived. Pearson, now 20, has pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted first-degree murder with a weapon and one count of aggravated battery causing serious bodily injury with a weapon.
