Phathiswa Magopeni is being charged in relation to the airing of a Special Assignment episode despite there being a court order against it. Magopeni was charged for alleged negligence and bringing the public broadcaster into disrepute. She's accused of failing to discharge her duties as group executive of news, failing to stop the interdicted programme from airing and bringing the name of the SABC into disrepute. She has denied wrongdoing, saying the decision to air the show was made by someone four levels below her.
