Pastor Timothy Omotoso is a Nigerian televangelist and the senior pastor of the Jesus Dominion International Church, based in Durban, South Africa. He has been in jail awaiting trial since his arrest at the Dawid Stuurman Airport in  April 2017 for rape, racketeering, and human trafficking. He was alleged to have groomed his victims and to have began molesting them from the age of 14.

Today at the Eastern Cape High Court in Gqeberha he has been found not guilty of the charges preferred against him.

The 66-year-old and his two co-accused, Lusanda Sulani, 41, and Zikiswa Sitho, 33, faced 32 counts of charges which included racketeering, trafficking in persons, rape, and sexual assault.

After eight years behind bars despite 2 bail applications the Nigerian televangelist is now a free man but will be deported to Nigeria immediately.

Judge Irma Schoeman presiding over the case laid the blame squarely on the prosecution saying “No thought went into the State’s cross-examination of the accused. The cross-examination was shallow and lacking the intention”.
