Kelsie Thomas is accused of strangling her five-year-old daughter Cloe Chandler with pajama pants. An autopsy determined she died from ligature strangulation and her death was ruled a homicide. The charge against Thomas is a Class A felony. Iowa law requires a life sentence upon conviction for crimes in that category.
