Tyler Dazey is charged with killing his mother, Jennifer. Dazey was charged with first-degree murder after his mother was found dead in her home on January 18, 2024. Police located Jennifer Dazey in her bedroom with 'numerous' and 'significant' lacerations to her face, neck and head. Some of the fingers also had been severed from her hand. The family dog was also found dead with a significant head injury. Dazey claims that his mother had been practicing witchcraft. A tactical tomahawk was found in a bathroom. Dazey's attorneys have said they intend to pursue a defense of insanity and diminished capacity in the case, citing Dazey's 'long history of mental health-related issues'.
