Batts allegedly shot and killed his 11-year-old daughter, Timea, in their Sumner County home in August 2016. She had just returned home from her first day of 6th grade. Batts told detectives he thought Timea was an intruder when she came in while he was sleeping. However, police claim they have surveillance video of Batts walking around the home with a gun before she came home. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of reckless homicide, tampering with evidence, felon in possession of a firearm and filing a false report.
