Skylar Nemetz, 20, is accused of using an AR-15 assault rifle to shoot his 19-year-old wife Danielle in the back of the head as she sat at her computer at their Lakewood apartment in October of 2014. Nemetz didn't call 911 after the shooting. His neighbors did after hearing the gunshot and going to the couple's apartment. Prosecutors argue that Skylar Nemetz killed his wife in a fit of jealousy. Nemetz had just returned from Army training and prosecutors contend he thought his wife had been unfaithful, especially after finding alcohol that he thought was bought for her by another man. Nemetz claims the shooting was an accident and that even though he has been around guns most of his life and is a trained soldier, he misjudged whether the assault rifle was loaded.
