Sigfredo Garcia

Sigfredo Garcia, 37, and Katherine Magbanua, 34, were charged with the murder of FSU law professor Dan Markel. Investigators said Garcia was hired by the family of Markel?s ex-wife, Wendi Adelson, to drive from Miami to Tallahassee to kill Markel. Both Garcia and Magbanua contended they were innocent and had no involvement in the murder. Sigfredo Garcia was found guilty of first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He was found not guilty of solicitation. The jury will now decide if Garcia should face the death penalty. Katherine Magbanua faced life in prison but the jury could not reach a decision on the charges against her. The judge declared a mistrial on the charges against her.
