Rita Pangalangan, who was a teacher for the local school district, and Larry King are both charged with murder, unlawful conduct towards a child, and criminal conspiracy. They are suspected of putting Cristina inside a car and leaving her to die in August 2019. Cristina, who was non-verbal and wheelchair-bound, was trapped in the car for five hours. She died at some point during the ordeal; emergency personnel said she wasn't breathing and 'beyond help' when they arrived.
