Nicole Nachtman

Nicole Nachtman is accused of two counts of first-degree murder in the 2015 deaths of her mother Myriam Dienes and her step-father Robert Dienes. Nachtman admits killing them. Prosecutors say Nachtman left the FSU campus and drove home to Carrollwood to kill her parents. She then drove back to her dorm room at FSU to start her sophomore year. Her defense team blames the murders on 'battered child syndrome' coupled with temporary insanity. Her public defenders have set the stage for a two-pronged defense: that Nachtman was defending herself from her mother's wrath, and that she didn't know what she was doing because of mental illness. If they succeed, Nachtman could spend time in a mental health facility. If convicted as charged, Nachtman, 25, will spend the rest of her life in prison.
