Megan Joyce Imirowicz allegedly threw lye powder on her father, 64, with water, to produce a chemical reaction and cause severe burns on 1 October 2021. He was found by neighbors in his Groveland Township home before being hospitalized for his injuries, which were chemical burns to the head, torso and 'extremities'. Megan Imirowicz was initially facing charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and misdemeanor domestic violence. However, Mr Imirowicz died as a result of the injuries on March 6, nearly five months after the alleged attack so the charges were upgraded to unlawful possession or use of harmful devices (imitation/irritants) causing death, a felony, and misdemeanor domestic violence. If convicted on the murder charge, she faces up to life in prison.
