McKinley Louisma

McKinley Louisma was charged in the kidnapping and murder of Melody Hoffman. Louisma was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping after Hoffman's body was found at Amana Lily Lake in Iowa County on February 18, 2024 but investigators believe she was killed the night before. Investigators believe Louisma and another man, Dakota Van Patten,kidnapped Hoffman and killed her at Morgan Creek Park in Cedar Rapids. A third man, Logan Kimpton, is accused of helping purchase knives and gloves on the night of the murder but allegedly backed out of the killing. Evidence collected from Louisma's car included Hoffman's clothing, a phone case, and a bloody watch band. Additionally, Louisma and Van Patten were seen on surveillance video buying two machetes and gloves from the Southwest Cedar Rapids Walmart prior to picking up Hoffman. It is believed that Hoffman might have been pregnant at the time of her death on February 18, 2024.
