Matthew Exton is a lawyer accused of trying to kill his ex-wife in a restaurant on April 11, 2025. Multiple video recordings show Exton aim a Colt .45 handgun directly at the head of a woman believed to be his ex-wife and attempt to shoot her. However, Exton failed to disengage the gun's safety mechanism preventing it from firing. Some restaurant patrons then tackled and restrained him before he was able to attempt another shot. Exton is charged with the attempted murder of his ex-wife and two felonious assault charges relating to his ex-wife's parents, who were seated with her in the restaurant.
