Jose Bonilla is charged with one count of second-degree murder, five counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, and one count of tampering with evidence. Bonilla is accused of shooting six people in downtown Fort Myers at the 2015 Zombicon event. One of the victims shot, Tyrell Taylor, died from his injuries; the five others survived. Taylor, 20, went to Clewiston High School and was a football player. Investigators said Crime Stoppers tips helped lead them to Bonilla. Also a confidential jailhouse informant alerted law enforcement that Bonilla had been talking about a shooting in downtown Fort Myers from 2015 while he was in jail for another crime. The informant agreed to wear a wire and recorded conversations between him and Bonilla. |
