James VanCallis is accused of hitting April Millsap with a motorcycle helmet and trying to sexual assault her. Millsap was 14 when she was attacked and killed while walking her dog along the Macomb Orchard Trail in July 2014. VanCallis is charged with murder, kidnapping and attempted criminal sexual conduct. Police tied VanCallis to the case by using witness descriptions but his lawyer has said there is no DNA evidence linking him to the crime.
