The 'Grim Sleeper' trial, one of LA's most notorious serial killer cases. Lonnie Franklin Jr, 63, was arrested in July 2010 after DNA linked him to more than a dozen crime scenes. The former rubbish collector has pleaded not guilty to the murders of nine women and a 15-year-old girl between 1985 and 2007. The killings came in two spurts that were 14 years apart, earning the alleged killer the nickname the Grim Sleeper. After the first killing in 1985, the bodies of young women started turning up in alleyways in Los Angeles. The victims were either strangled or shot and most had suffered some form of sexual contact. The spree is understood to have ended in 2007 with the shooting of 25-year-old Janecia Peters, whose body was found in a rubbish bin.
