Gregory Nieman was guilty of the strangulation of his 89-year-old father inside his Macomb Township home. Gregory Lynn Nieman, 55 at the time of arrest, was found guilty by a jury of first-degree premeditated murder in May. Nieman called police at about 10:30 a.m. on December 27, 2017, to report his father was not breathing and was cold to the touch. Deputies responded and found the 89-year-old man dead inside his condominium in the 45000 block of Warwick Drive. Nieman initially was released after being questioned at the home.
