Floyd Nix is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jermaine Tilmon.Tilmon was talking in front of a friend's house in the 3600 block of Chatsworth last November when Nix allegedly shot the unarmed Tilmon while he was holding his hands in the air. Tilman was known as a ceasefire advocate and was the stepfather of Davontae Sanford, who served eight years in prison for a quadruple murder before his conviction was overturned. Tilmon was credited with saving lives through volunteer mentor work, getting gang members to change their way.
