Fani Willis

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee is holding an evidentiary hearing to determine whether DA Fani Willis and her entire office will be disqualified from the racketeering case against Donald Trump and co-defendants. The issues at point are whether a relationship existed between DA Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whether that relationship was romantic or non-romantic in nature, when it formed, and whether it continues. Fani Willis has admitted that she had a 'personal relationship' with Nathan Wade. Georgia lawyer Ashleigh Merchant plans to explore whether there was a 'personal financial benefit' to Willis, who had lawyer Nathan Wade on the payroll as part of her team. If Judge McAfee decides there is a conflict of interest or the appearance of one, he could 'disqualify' Willis and the entire Fulton County DA's office from the case. The move could force the case to get reassigned to a neighboring county, where prosecutors may take a different view of the racketeering conspiracy charges.
