On July 28, 2021, authorities found Tori Lang shot and killed under a tree at Yellow River Park. A week after she was found, her burned car was located about five miles from where her body was found. It was hidden in a wooded area of Hidden Acres Nature Preserve in DeKalb County. Austin Ford was charged with her murder. Authorities have not said how they linked Ford to Lang's murder. In May 2023 at his trial, Ford was found guilty of tampering with evidence and two counts of theft by taking and was also found guilty of concealing the death of Tori Lang. However, the jury were unable to reach verdicts on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and voluntary manslaughter - undecided on whether Ford committed the crime or if Lang died by suicide which is what Ford claims. A mistrial was also declared on two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. |
