Anthony Herring is on trial accused of starving a three-year-old pit bull named Bella in Suburban Delray Beach. Investigators say they found Bella near death with her ribs showing and bugs all over her. She was chained to a fence. Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg is prosecuting the felony animal cruelty trial himself. Herring turned down a plea deal for 8 months in jail and instead is having a jury trial. He is charged with Felony Animal Cruelty and Unlawful Abandonment or Confinement of an animal in Aug. 2014.
