Alexander Jackson

Alexander Jackson, 22, is charged with three counts of first degree murder, a Class A felony in Iowa. Class A felonies are punishable by life in prison without the possibility of parole. Police said that in June 2021 Jackson shot and killed father, Jan Jackson, 61; mother, Melissa Jackson, 68; and sister, Sabrina Jackson, 19. in the family’s home in Cedar Rapids. The suspected weapon was a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, which Alexander Jackson said he had cleaned the night before the killing with his father. Police found the bodies of Jan, Melissa, and Sabrina Jackson in separate rooms of the home. Alexander Jackson reportedly told officers a male intruder shot him and his dad. Jackson had a gunshot wound on his foot. He said he was shot in the foot while struggling with the masked intruder over a rifle. However, investigators say there were no signs of forced entry or burglary. Jackson denied killing his family, but admitted his dad had recently told him to find a job or move out.
