Alleged crime kingpin Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala faces charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and money laundering. His co-accused include his wife, Tsakani Matlal, Musa Kekana, Zandile Nthabiseng Nzama and Tiegi Floyd Mabusela. They face 25 charges including 11 counts of attempted murder, linked to three separate shooting incidents allegedly committed between August 2022 and January 2024. Matlala faces charges stemming from an alleged failed assassination attempt on his former girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, as well as the shootings of taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie 'DJ Vetteys' Mokubong. The alleged attempted hit on his former partner actress and socialite Tebogo Thobejane happened in October 2023. His former partner Tebogo Thobejane was in a car when unknown hitmen fired at her, her friend and their driver. Thobejane, known for her role on the popular television drama Muvhango, was shot in the foot, while a female passenger in the car sustained a serious spinal cord injury.
