Simon Reynolds Vs Regina Maia

This case is a dispute over a construction contract that was in writing in part and there were other things that were not in writing. The case started in 2019. Reynolds had a meeting with Maia about building an accessory dwelling unit (an ADU) behind her house. An ADU is like a tiny house. Miss Maia's father Antonio Ordonius, a badly disabled war veteran who is not a party in this case, was bed-ridden and the ADU was so that Miss Maia could care more easily for her father. The ADU was to be paid for by a grant to Miss Maia and Mr Ordonius under the Department of Veteran Affairs Specially Adapted House (SAH) program. The cost of the ADU was estimated to cost $120,000 which increased to $136,000. At issue is what was the scope of the contract and what was added on.
