Darin Thrailkill faces first and second degree murder charges. He is accused of killing 6-year-old in 2016. On July 2, 2016 St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado informed the Grand Junction Police Department that a non-responsive boy in their care had died despite attempts to treat him. An autopsy of the boy resulted in his death being declared a homicide. Defense attorneys claim the child died from a combination of aspiration pneumonia and asthma. The prosecution argues he is guilty of murder by strangulation. Thrailkill was arrested seven years after the child's death in 2016 and extradited from Florida to Colorado to face the charges. |
